Kavion Sabio (b. 1990, New York, New York) is a contemporary photographer based in the New York Metropolitan Area. Working primarily with 35mm film prints on Hahnemühle rag photo paper, Sabio is best known for transforming a single roll of film into a cinematically narrative contact sheet that unravels fictional stories grounded in real-world history. His practice merges cinematic structure with photographic storytelling, blurring the boundaries between documentation and imagination while immersing viewers in the intimate lives of everyday people.

Sabio’s work delves into the fictional histories of the forgotten men and women of the twentieth century, using narrative depth, dignity, and imagination to reanimate the fragments of American life. His photographs often revisit historical events and environments not as static archives, but as living spaces where emotion, memory, and social tension coexist. This narrative approach is powerfully embodied in his project “The Crimson Night Before Goodbye” (2024–2025), where Sabio developed his signature storytelling technique, shooting an entire cinematic sequence on a single roll of 35mm film to explore themes of love, race, and separation during the 1940s.

Kavion Sabio has exhibited internationally, including at Galeria Nueva (Mexico City, Mexico), One Art Space (Tribeca, New York, NY), Jutta Gallery (Hudson Square, New York, NY), CASA DEL ARTE Palma (Palma, Spain), and Thomson Gallery (Zug, Switzerland). His works are held in various private collections across the United States, reflecting a growing recognition of his ability to merge historical consciousness with cinematic artistry.
